About the work
In Celtic mythology foxglove flowers were believed to have been worn by foxes as gloves (it’s in the name)!
They are quite an impressive plant though; a medication called Digitalis is derived from them, which is used for treating heart conditions. The active compounds, known as cardiac glycosides, enhance the strength and efficiency of heart contractions while helping to regulate heart rhythm
Tall and striking with bell-shaped flowers, while beautiful to look at, they are also highly toxic 😳 Straight ingestion of any part can result in serious consequences – which is amazing really considering the drug scientists process from it!
