About Lesley Whelan

Lesley Whelan works from her studio on The Canal Basin in Coventry, UK.

Her artistic journey explores the various ways different cultures and civilisations use plants and flowers for medicinal, spiritual, aesthetic, and practical purposes. Her work edits and slices open these biographies to inspire wonder and respect, encouraging viewers to reconnect with the earth and find a harmonious place of rest.

She studied art in Birmingham (1982-85) and has since been exhibited across the country. Notable achievements include being Artist in Residence at University of Birmingham Botanic Garden, touring the UK with a solo exhibition of her residency work, and gaining development funding to collaborate with a mathematician exploring numerical patterns found in nature.

Her work is held in several corporate collections, including hospitals and hospices, and she regularly works to commission.
