Chelsea

‘Chelsea’ was painted in response to my visit to the Chelsea Flower Show. I was particularly inspired by the incredible collection of David Austin roses, especially their new variety for 2023, ‘Dannahue’. It’s named after gardener Danny Clarke, who works to make gardening more accessible and inclusive through the charity Grow2Know, a community that emerged as an act of healing following the Grenfell Tower fire.
I loved seeing the new shades and tones that emerged as the colors blended, especially the unexpected lavender-grey in the lower right section. This piece captures the beauty and inspiration I found at the show, and I’m excited to share it.
