Colorum Fluorescentium

‘Colorum Fluorescentium’ explores the bright, almost glowing colours we sometimes see in the natural world.

Plants absorb light through chlorophyll to make energy, but not all of that light is used. A small amount is released again as a very faint glow, known as fluorescence. We don’t usually see it clearly, but it explains why natural colours can feel so vivid and alive.

This piece draws on that idea. Colours appear intense and energetic, as if light is being held within the surface; absorbed, changed and then gently released.
